Celebrating the artistry and tradition of wooden boatbuilding, this cherished gathering welcomes all wooden boats, from freshly built designs to lovingly restored classics, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship from across the region. Displays span land and water, with vessels set along George Washington Creef Park and afloat near the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, offering a close look at the fine details that make each boat unique. Entries are judged in two divisions, owner-built or restored and professionally built or restored, with honors that include the People’s Choice Award and the H.A. Creef Award, a perpetual recognition for the best overall boat. It is a warm salute to maritime heritage and skilled craftsmanship in the heart of Downtown Manteo.

A family friendly Halloween celebration fills Jolly Roger Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills with a playful pirate theme and pet friendly fun. Children can trick or treat from decorated trunks stocked with candy and surprises, hunt for treasure by following clues, and dance at a kid focused Monster Mash. Pony cart rides are available, with donations benefiting LDB Farm Animal Sanctuary. Costumes are encouraged for kids and pets, and contests award prizes to the best dressed. Face painting, a photo booth, games, and activities add to the festivities, and there are special treats for four legged friends. Grandy Beagle Rescue and the Eastern North Carolina SPCA are participating. A karaoke brunch with Chauncey is also part of the day.

Expect a haunted, high-seas vibe on the dance floor as the party sails from start to finish. A $100 prize will be awarded to the best costume, rewarding standout pirate swagger or an eerie ocean-themed look.
