8:30 AMHalloween HikeSplit Oak Forest Wildlife and Environmental Area, Orlando
Head into Split Oak Forest for a Halloween-themed guided hike led by the Save Split Oak team, with hike leader Bob Stein. Experience the landscape as fall settles in, noticing how seasonal shifts influence plants and wildlife while learning about habitats, conservation work, and the role this area plays as a wildlife corridor in Central Florida. Conversation along the trail will touch on nocturnal and crepuscular species, reading animal tracks, and how creatures adapt as daylight hours change. The pace is easygoing and welcoming to nature lovers looking to connect with others who care about public lands and conservation. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and bringing water, sunscreen, and insect repellent will help make the outing more enjoyable. Subtle, nature-friendly costumes are welcome. Because Split Oak Forest is a sensitive place, participants are asked to follow Leave No Trace principles and remain mindful of wildlife and trail conditions. For questions, contact hike leader Bob Stein at savesplitoak@gmail.com.
