7:30 PMPatty Larkin and Lucy KaplanskyThe Vogel, Red BankMusic

Patty Larkin and Lucy Kaplansky share the stage at The Vogel for an evening of masterful songwriting and storytelling. Patty Larkin offers soulful vocals, acclaimed guitar work, and a catalog that has shaped the guitar driven singer songwriter tradition for more than 30 years. Her releases include eleven studio albums and two live recordings, as well as her fourteenth title, Bird in a Cage, on her Road Narrows Records label, which sets poems by ten notable poets, including United States Poet Laureates William Carlos Williams, Stanley Kunitz, Kay Ryan, Robert Pinsky, and Billy Collins, to music. Lucy Kaplansky began in Chicago folk clubs and moved to New York City, where she sang with artists such as Suzanne Vega, Steve Forbert, the Roches, and frequently with Shawn Colvin. She stepped away to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology and worked in both hospital and private practice, while continuing to lend harmonies to friends’ projects, including Colvin’s Grammy winning Steady On and Nanci Griffith’s Lone Star State of Mind and Little Love Affairs, plus soundtrack and commercial work on Pretty in Pink, The Firm, and The Heartbeat of America. Colvin went on to produce Kaplansky’s solo recordings, which led Bob Feldman of Red House Records to sign her, the release of The Tide in 1994, and extensive touring with Fleming Artists. She continues to tour and receive airplay nationally and internationally, and her album Ten Year Night is the best selling title in the Red House Records catalog.
