This relaxed, approximately 17-mile flattened loop is about 92 percent on dedicated bikeways and is nearly level except for a single bridge crossing. The path follows Atlantic-side bikeways and commonly ridden connectors, with sidewalks available in some areas. Florida law allows bicycling on sidewalks, though when a bike lane is present or walkways are busy it may be preferable to ride on the side of the roadway. Highlights along the way can include Beach Park, Crandon Park, Crandon Beach, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, the Cape Florida Lighthouse, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, Hobie Island Beach Park, Rickenbacker Causeway beaches and viewpoints, the Old Rickenbacker Causeway, the Miami Seaquarium, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, the Crandon Park Zoo ruins, Neptune Memorial Reef, and Cape Florida Beach. Signature bikeways include the Osprey Beach Trail, Bear Cut Nature Trail, the Rickenbacker Bikeway, and the Fossilized Reef Bike Trail. Entry fees may apply at some stops, including a per-person fee at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park and variable fees at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park that are free early in the week, higher on weekends, and highest on holidays. Bring a bike and a smartphone to receive turn-by-turn voice and map guidance by email, with navigation available through Google Maps or Ride With GPS.
