Attendees are encouraged to bring a bottle of wine or a nonalcoholic beverage to share. Expect a loud experience, with earplugs available at the bar. 9 AMNative Plant Garden WorkdayUF IFAS Extension Seminole County, SanfordFreeCivic

Roll up your sleeves for a friendly volunteer gardening session led by Susan Carpenter at UF IFAS Extension Seminole County. Volunteers will help care for and improve the UF/IFAS Florida Friendly Landscape Demonstration Garden, with a hands-on focus on Florida native plants. This workday is designed to be an easy way to contribute while learning practical techniques for sustainable landscaping. Bring a shovel, trowel, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, water, and a snack. Refreshments to share are welcome. Please complete the event waiver before participating. Participants can meet in the garden near the arbor to the west of the building. Activities align with Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles, including choosing the right plant for the right place, watering efficiently, fertilizing appropriately, mulching, attracting wildlife, managing pests responsibly, recycling yard waste, reducing storm runoff, and protecting the waterfront. Using native plants supports local biodiversity, generally requires less water and fewer chemical inputs, offers lower maintenance once established, connects to regional heritage, and creates beautiful, sustainable landscapes.
